Find out how we helped Claimaday Ltd to claim back £55,000 of qualifying expenditure via R&D Tax Credits. Here is Director Claire Burroughs to tell their story:
Claimaday is an online events diary that collects and collates some of the 17 million public events held in the UK each year. It helps event organisers identify and claim the right dates for their special occasions, avoiding clashes.
Most event websites are regional only, whereas Claimaday is national in scope. We also provide support and advice in relation to everything to do with event organising - from legal requirements to best practice.
How did RIFT R&D Tax Credits help you?
Before RIFT, we were unaware businesses like ours qualified for R&D - we used to think such credits applied to scientists or engineers. RIFT realised straight away that the code and algorithms we were building for our platform hadn’t been made before.
As the outcome of our work helps other companies make efficiency gains in terms of time and money, it meant we were eligible for a range of government rewards and incentives. The financial windfall we received has allowed us to invest to continually improve our service and reinforce our creative culture.
How do you define innovation?
It’s about looking at something people have been doing for years and asking how can we do it better. Do we do it that way as it’s the best way or just out of habit? Before RIFT we just never realised there was so much potential official support for acting on this philosophy.
What are your future plans?
Claimaday wants to be the national touchstone and reference point for the events industry. We want tomake event planning a smooth and easy experience for those both new and old to the process. Time traditionally spent on finding the right date is better spent on actual planning.
