RIFT is proud to sponsor the KEiBA SME Business of the Year 2016 category.
As a business that’s grown and diversified rapidly over the last 16 years, we’ve been on quite a journey. So we have an innate understanding of - and appreciation for – all of those, eager, ambitious and hard-working people who drive the success of small to medium businesses across the nation.
Our sponsorship of this category is all about championing the everyday industry that makes for incredible success. The KEiBAs in particular do an amazing job of showcasing such a wide variety of companies across Kent – and actually even boosting business. We hear from business associates and our customers how just entering the awards has directly impacted on their bottom line, giving them invaluable publicity and media coverage that would otherwise have needed a big marketing budget. It’s also an impactful way to drive up employee engagement, with teams enjoying renewed motivation and an appetite for even greater success.
We work with lots of SMEs who are clients of RIFT Accounting and RIFT Legal, so we know not only the challenges they face but also the hard work that goes into delivering success, day after day.
According to the Federation for Small Business:
Small businesses accounted for 99.3% of all private sector businesses at the start of 2015 and 99.9% were small or medium-sized (SMEs).
Total employment in SMEs was 15.6 million – that’s 60% of all private sector employment in the UK.
SMEs generate a combined annual turnover of £1.8 trillion - 47% of all private sector turnover in the UK.
That’s a lot of business potential that needs to be guided and helped. And we like to do our bit to support and boost a sector that continues to grow.
We love working with innovative companies, whether that's helping them claim tax relief on money they've spent developing their products, services or processes or offering guidance that goes beyond our professional advice to include workshops, video tutorials, blogs and interviews. It’s all really valuable information that RIFT experts put together to save our clients time and money – and adds a lot of value to our services.
Jane Ollis, Managing Director of RIFT Accounting, is particularly proud to be judging the SME category of the KEiBAs:
“Each short-listed business is inspirational and it is a privilege to be invited into their business for a couple of hours.
“It has made me realise the level of innovation in Kent companies and their successes, there is a huge array of businesses in Kent. We are surrounded by highly entrepreneurial and inspiring businesses that we can all learn from.”
It’s no secret that we’re heading into a critical time for the whole UK construction industry. It’s going to take an estimated 158,000 new jobs to hit the targets for infrastructure and housing needs...
