Chairman

Jan established the RIFT Group in 1999. She holds a number of other directorships and is very active in the charity sector. Jan has built up close relationships with the construction Industry, and RIFT Group has served the construction's tax needs for over 18 years. She has been listed as one of the 40 most influential business leaders in Kent and has won numerous awards, including Woman of the Year in Construction and Business Woman of the Year.

Alison Davies, Managing Director

Managing Director

Alison joined RIFT at the start of 2021 as Chief Finance Officer for the Group and Managing Director for RIFT Tax Credits.

Before joining RIFT, Alison spent 24 years working at Saga PLC as Finance Director and then Chief Operating Officer for the Insurance broking division. After leaving Saga, Alison spent a couple of years supporting private equity owned businesses from both a financial and operational perspective. 

Outside of work, Alison is the Chair of Governors for a local primary school and an active member of the Williams Syndrome Association. She enjoys spending time with her family, keeping fit with Joe Wicks , supporting Spurs - and other underperforming sports teams!

Carly Northwood

Partnerships Director

Carly has worked in Sales and Business Development for 20 years, the past 10 of which have been in Construction.

She is a keen believer in building strong relationships, communicating efficiently and honestly to deliver the greatest outcome for her clients.

Slightly outside of work, Carly is a strong networker being very familiar with the Kent and London construction circuit collaborating with some of the most influential groups to effect change and progression.

Entirely outside of work, Carly enjoys time with her family alongside trying to dispel her crazy cat lady misconception/title with the arrival of a new show cocker spaniel puppy. With a 3 cat to 1 dog ratio, the title remains.

Siobhan Zipfel, Head of Operations
Siobhan Zipfel

Head of Operations

Siobhan Zipfel is the Head of Operations at RIFT Tax Credits, and has over 9 years experience working in Operations Management. She's responsible for overseeing the day to day running of all operational activities, specialising in process, performance and compliance management.

Siobhan ensures that streamlined processes are implemented making sure the client journey is as smooth as possible. With 8 years of experience within the public sector, she has a keen eye for detail and a wealth of expertise in statistical analysis and investigative research. 

Outside of work, Siobhan enjoys spending time with her family, trying to keep up with her two very active boys.

Oliver Batt, Senior Consultant and Technical Lead 
Oliver Batt

Senior Consultant and Technical Lead 

Oliver Batt is a Senior R&D consultant at RIFT Tax Credits. He has 7 years' experience compiling R&D tax relief claims and proven expertise in Creative Industries Tax Relief. Drawing on his in-depth knowledge of R&D legislation, Oliver is able to quickly identify a company's qualifying activities and accurately calculate their entitlement. His background in communications is used to great effect when writing the supporting technical narratives.

Oliver's first role in financial services was within personal tax, where he developed the meticulous analytic skills he applies to R&D and VGTR claims.

Outside of work, Oliver prefers to be absorbed in a book or attending a gig.

William Marshall

R&D Tax Consultant

Will has been in the Team as a Tax Consultant since 2019, having joined the RIFT Group in 2012.

He has accrued a vast amount of knowledge in Corporate Tax since completing his ATT qualifications in 2018 and has continued to hone his knowledge of the R&D scheme. In his lengthy career at RIFT, Will has dealt with all kinds of individuals and businesses and has gained valuable experience, enabling him to make the process of submitting an R&D claim as simple and efficient as possible for his clients. Since passing his ATT examinations in 2018, Will set his sights on working in R&D as his keen eye for attention to detail would be well suited to maximising the relief due to businesses.

Will likes to spend his time outside of work with friends and family, often forcing them to sample the latest batch of his favourite hobby, making home brew.

Louise Heselden

Louise joined RIFT Tax Credits in March 2022 as a Tax Consultant.

Having worked within the Customer Service Industry for over 11 years, Louise has exceptional communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, utilising these to build successful client relationships and build comprehensive R&D reports.

Louise adds value to her client's experience by elevating her understanding of the R&D scheme and identifying qualifying projects and eligible expenditures to ensure businesses receive their full benefit.

Outside of work, Louise is a keen snowboarder who enjoys hiking up mountains just as much as attempting to board down them.

Norma Thomas, Business Development
Norma Thomas

Business Liaison Manager

Norma is the Business Liaison Manager for RIFT Tax Credits, with a remit to provide educational information to SME’s on the Research and Development Tax Relief Scheme.

She's been called a social catalyst, but the truth is that Norma loves hearing small businesses tell their stories and learning about how they have grown. Norma is a dedicated and active networker, who rarely forgets a name or a face. Amongst other groups, she is an active member of The British and Irish Trading Alliance, The Irish International Business Network, The Doyle Club and The London Irish Construction Network.

Norma met our Chair, Jan Post, whilst they were both raising families and joined her at RIFT Ltd in 2011. Norma regards Jan as an inspirational business woman who shares her passion for seeing individuals and small businesses receive the tax refunds and business tax credits they deserve.

John McKeown

Non-Executive Director

John was involved in the “dot com” boom of the 2000's, with a successful project to his name. He has worked with RIFT for over 5 years and is a Non-Executive Director for the company. John has a background in finance, an industry in which he has worked since 1982. He was a qualified IFA for over 20 years, working with SMEs in all areas of taxation and investment and looking after shareholder interests. John’s current expertise lies within identifying R&D tax credits, working with Patent Box and locating grant and funding opportunities.

Mark Woodcock, Commercial Director
Mark Woodcock

Commercial Director

Mark Woodcock is the Commercial Director at RIFT Group Ltd, and works with the R&D team to maintain the highest possible standards of customer delivery. He has more than 25 years' experience in a broad range of businesses, ranging from Private-Equity backed scale-ups to blue-chip PLCs.

Mark has held senior leadership positions at a number of high-profile companies, including The Telegraph and lastminute.com. Having been responsible for a diverse range of commercial projects - from in-airport construction builds to big-budget software development, he's very much "in tune" with our clients.

Outside of work, Mark can be found spending time as a Coach and Chairman at his local football club, or in the garden with his beloved chickens.
